Why is your brand identity more important than what you sell?

First, let’s start with what brand identity IS.

According to google: Brand identity is the way a company wants to be perceived by the public, encompassing all the visual and verbal elements that define its personality and values.

For me, I break that into the 5 V’s

Visuals. Voice. Vision. Values & Vibes.

Your Visuals: Anything that the customer sees- logos, colors, typography, the photos, videos and overall design.

Your Voice: Taglines, messaging and the tone of voice you have when you are on camera. This also includes the way you converse with clients/customers, even down to exclamation points.

Your Vision: What your vision for your company is in the future. Who are you helping, what do you want to help them achieve? What is your grand vision for the direction of the brand?

Your Values: A tad different than vision, this is what you stand for, what you won’t stand for and the underlying principles you run your brand with.

Your Vibes: How your customer feels when they’re immersed in your brand. The emotions you want them to feel when they’re interacting with you and your visuals & voice. Your style. Your aesthetic.

What happens when your 5Vs are misaligned?

Confusion.
